Day 02

Namche Bazaar Altitude: 3,440m/ 11,286ft

It's time to move further ahead on your exciting Himalayan journey. After a delicious breakfast at Lukla, you will start following the beautiful pine forest at the bank of the Dudh Koshi River. The path further ahead across the Benkar Village will lead you to Monjo Village.

Monjo is the entry point to the Sagarmatha National Park and you will check in at the counter before proceeding further. The exciting trail inside this UNESCO World Natural Site takes you to the Jorsale Village. Then, it is time to cross the popular Hillary Suspension Bridge, enjoying the wonderful views of Thamserku Peak.

Following the path over the confluence of Dudh Koshi River and Bhote Koshi River, you will reach the last steep ascent known as Namche Ukalo. Your hike on this steep section, before you reach your resting spot, will slowly unveil the beautiful first views of Mount Everest, peeking amidst Lhotse and Nuptse.

Day 03

Tengboche Altitude: 3,867m/ 12,687ft

Namche Bazaar, also known as Sherpa Capital, is a popular trading hub. It was once a trading route for salt trading between Nepal and Tibet. This vibrant Sherpa town has all the modern amenities, including cafes, restaurants and bars.

After enjoying the remarkable hospitality of this Sherap capital, you will then push forward on the winding trail. You will resume your walk on the banks of Dudh Koshi and cross a long suspension bridge to enter Imja Khola Valley.

The exciting trail of the valley will take you across the lush woodland of pine and rhododendron trees to Phunki Thenga. You will take a break here to enjoy the majestic charms of the Himalayan region. Then, about two of three hours of walk from here will take you to Tengboche Village.

There is a century-old monastery here, Tengboche Monastery, this significant landmark in the Buddhist religion was built in 1916 by Lama Gulu. The spiritual presence of this religious relic surrounded by majestic views of Everest, NButpse, Kwangde, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Tawache will feel like a heavenly realm.

Day 04

Dingboche Altitude: 4,400m/ 14,435ft

Altitude Gain: 533m/ 1,748ft

Today, in your Everest Base Camp Short Trek itinerary, you will traverse the alpine zone. So, keep yourself warm and stay hydrated to avoid the risks of altitude sickness. After your breakfast in Tengboche, you will descend across the beautiful forest to reach the bank of Imja Khola.

Crossing the river, enjoying the majestic views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse and other surrounding peaks, you will follow your path toward Pangboche Village. This village has a very old monastery which is said to store yak scalp.

After a short exploration of the monastery, you will move along the winding road to the stone-fenced valley of Dingboche. This valley, also known as summer valley, has high stone fences surrounding the buckwheat, barley and potato fields. You will settle in here tonight enjoying the breathtaking views of Mount Lhotse.

Day 05

Lobuche Altitude: 4,940m/ 16,207ft

Altitude Gain: 540m/ 1,771ft

After enjoying your breakfast and relishing the crisp mountain views and Himalayan atmosphere, you will prepare for the trans-Himalayan part of the trail. First, you will move along the steep slopes ahead of the village to enter the wide Dughla Valley.

On the path further ahead, you will reach the Thukla Pass. This is a memorial site that is dedicated to the lost lives of the mountaineers on the slopes of Everest. After offering your prayers, you will then continue walking further across the praying flags and chortens.

During the final stretch, you will hike over a rocky terrain and follow the trail alongside the Khumbu glacier onto the moraine. A 30-minute walk across the boulders and sharp rock will then finally take you to Lobuche Village.

Day 06

Gorak Shep Altitude: 5,180m/ 16,994ft

Everest Base Camp Altitude: 5,364m/ 17,598ft

Altitude Gain: 424m/ 1,391ft

It's finally time to move toward the main objective of this Everest Base Camp Short Trek itinerary. In the initial part, you will follow the trekking route alongside the Khumbu Glacier. Following the moraines, you will also cross the glacier section to reach the Gorak Shep Village.

This will also be your rest spot and after dropping your luggage, you will proceed toward the basin of the mountains. Following the steep and rocky segments along the glacier and its stretches, you will finally reach Everest Base Camp.

The views of Khumbu Glacier, Khumbu Icefall and the surrounding mountains are surreal from here. During the peak seasons, you will also see mountaineers camping around the campsites at the base camp.

Day 07

From Gorak Shep, before you start moving along with the returning trail, you will first hike to the popular vantage point of the Everest region, Kala Patthar. Following the rock trails behind the Gorak Shep, you will make your way toward this black rock.

This morning hike will reward you with the most majestic panorama of towering peaks such as Everest, Nuptse, Changtse, Thamserku, Lobuche, Ama Dablam, Kangtega and other surrounding peaks. After the hike, you will descend back to Gorak Shep for breakfast.

From Gorak Shep, you will then move along the descending road across praying flags, chortens, monasteries and beautiful high-altitude settlements toward Pheriche.

Day 08

Namche Bazaar Altitude: 3,440m/ 11,286ft

Altitude Loss: 931m/ 3,054ft

As you have completed your thrilling journey in this mainstream route, it's time to move along with the return trip. You will follow the route across the pine forest to descend to Tengboche Village first. From there, you will continue trekking across forests pine and rhododendron towards Phunki Thenga.

Then, exiting the Imja Khola Valley, you will enter the Dudh Koshi Valley to make your way toward Namche Bazaar. Enjoy all the amenities this vibrant Sherpa town has to offer; it will feel like you have entered a modern town after a long exploration of the remote mountains.

Day 09

Lukla Altitude: 2,800m/ 9,186ft

This is the last day of the trek in your exciting Himalayan adventure. After enjoying your breakfast at Namche, you will make your descend on the Namche Ukalo and head toward th river bank of Dudh Koshi. The lush landscape and temperate forest will make your journey really exciting on this day.

Passing the Jorsale Village, national Park, and Benkar Village, you will then follow the stretch at the bank of Dudh Koshi. The final climb through the Chaurikharka Village will then finally bring you back to Lukla.
