Altitude Sickness During Everest View Trek

Altitude sickness is a possibility during Mount Everest View Trek. During this trek, you will experience average heights in the mountains. You will start the journey from Kathmandu, which is at an elevation of 1,400 meters. After a short, thrilling flight (around 40 minutes), you will land at the Lukla Airport at 2,860 meters. This huge elevation gain within a short period of time can make you susceptible to altitude sickness.

Likewise, the trekking journey begins in Lukla and passes through villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche and Monjo. To reach each of the successive villages, you will generally gain altitude with some sections where you might experience minor descents between villages. The highest point you will reach during the Everest View trekking journey is 3,860 meters at Tengboche village. Since the likelihood of altitude sickness usually increases after crossing 2,500 meters, there is a slight chance of altitude sickness occurring during this trek.

Still, ATM facilities are available in some major villages along the way, like Lukla and Namche Bazaar.
